Signaling in the Type I Interferon Antiviral Innate Immune Response

Type I IFN proteins bind to the type I IFN receptor and activate Janus kinase–signal transducer and activator of transcription (Jak-STAT) signaling and formation of the trimeric transcription factor complex ISGF3, which promotes expression of antiviral effector proteins as well as proteins that positively and negatively modulate subsequent signaling. This poster highlights common and distinct components of these pathways that together lead to a highly orchestrated innate immune response to viral infection.
