Signaling in the Type I Interferon Antiviral Innate Immune Response

Type I IFN proteins bind to the type I IFN receptor and activate Janus kinase–signal transducer and activator of transcription (Jak-STAT) signaling and formation of the trimeric transcription factor complex ISGF3, which promotes expression of antiviral effector proteins as well as proteins that positively and negatively modulate subsequent signaling.
