Cross-Regulation of Signaling Pathways by Interferon Gamma

Interferon-γ (IFN-γ) is an important mediator of immunity and inflammation that utilizes the Janus kinase (JAK)-signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) signaling pathway. Many key IFN-γ functions are mediated by cross-regulation of cellular responses to other cytokines and inflammatory factors. This cross-regulation has important functional implications for macrophage activation, cytokine production, inflammation, tissue remodeling, and T cell differentiation, and for autoimmune diseases.
