Assay Technician

Reports To: Assay Services

 

SUMMARY: The Assay Technician works primarily with immunoassays, including ELISA and other high sensitivity platforms such as Simoa, MSD, and SMC (Erenna) to support the Assay Services Group in providing clients with trusted data for their various research needs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Properly handle of various biological samples, including sorting, aliquoting and inventory upkeep
  • Process samples using ELISAs
  • Process samples using high sensitivity assay platforms, with multiplexing and custom assay capability, including
    • Quanterix fully automated, bead-based single-molecule array (SIMOA)
    • MSD plate-based electrochemiluminescence (ECL)
    • MilliporeSigma bead and plate-based single-molecule counting (SMC)
  • Generate consistently reproducible assay results as a key team member
  • Maintain detailed records, analyze data and write client reports
  • Perform additional duties and other projects as required or assisgned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Life Sciences Bachelor’s degree or Associate's degree with 2+ years laboratory experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience with ELISA in an industrial setting preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge in practical aspects of assays including troubleshooting, and data interpretation, mainly as applied to biomarkers
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to maintian progress on simultaneous projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly attentive to detail and well organized
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with cell culture is a plus
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude, and ability to work independently

  • Standard Office/Lab work demands
  • No heavy lifting or carrying required

Shipping/Receiving and Inventory Clerk

Reports To: Director, Manufacturing

 

SUMMARY: The Shipping/Receiving and Inventory Clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments, receiving incoming shipments, maintaining inventory of raw materials and other production supplies. This individual supports WIP (work in progress) other departmental duties to ensure supplies are available for continued production.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the shipment of all products, materials, and supplies.
  • Collaborates and communicates with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment of products.
  • Handles issues arising in shipping or inventory handling
  • Responsible for the receiving duties: accepts, unpacks, and inspects deliveries for shortages and damaged goods. Delivers goods to appropriate locations/persons.
  • Updates the inventory database and appropriate logs
  • Maintains the company storage areas through organizing, cleaning, and labeling items on a regular basis
  • Generates inventory reports and participates in inventory assessments
  • Maintains the company’s database with entries and withdrawals of raw materials and supplies, based on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Manages and enters all cost changes into computer systems and prepares documents for all inventory adjustments and evaluate all cost variance items as per business requirement.
  • Assists in writing and editing manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures for shipping and receiving
  • Performs additional duties and/or other projects as required or assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school degree with 1-3 years’ industry work experience
  • Experience of shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing of materials is preferred
  • Must be highly attentive to detail and well organized and have inventory management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic and a positive attitude are required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and strong math skills

Business Development Scientist

Reports To: CEO

 

SUMMARY: The Business Development Scientist (BDS) drives market adoption of the company’s Assay Services line of business and ensures customer success using our services. This individual will build and maintain client relationships and serve as a primary conduit of communication between PBL and Company clients. The BDS will leverage experience in immunonology, biomarkers, immunoassays, and clinical and translational research to match customer research goals to our Assay Services capabilities, to recruit clients, to guide project design, to assist with troubleshooting, and to drive long-term client relationships. This role can be based in or around the Piscataway, NJ area or can be remote for the right candidate.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with internal Business Development, Marketing, and Scientific Operations teams to implement successful strategies and identify, develop and close high-value sales opportunities to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Recruit new Assay Services business and maintain relationships with existing clients.
  • Persuasively educate clients about our Assay Services project capabilities as they relate to clients’ needs.
  • Build, engage and leverage a network of early access and KOL clients to drive awareness and the Company’s reputation and deepen client relationships.
  • Understand client research requirements to help them design, execute, analyze and interpret their experiments, thus building the scientific credibility of both BDS and the Company’s capabilities.
  • Prepare and issue client quotes, collaborating with the in-house Business Development team and Assay Services Operations Manager about quote objectives, project requirements, milestones and deliverables, and project schedules.
  • Review client project reports and deliver exceptional post-sales support, assuring that projects we execute maximize clients’ likelihood of research success.
  • Communicate client feedback, competitive intelligence, and market trends to internal teams; provide guidance and support for Marketing activities , product positioning, product development ideas and overall business strategy.
  • Assess success of business development activities and modify strategies as necessary.
  • Serve as an ambassador for PBL in the promotion of the Company Vision.
  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Depth of knowledge in Immunology
  • Commercial experience in one or more of the following areas: Immunoassays and Immunoassay Platforms and Techniques, Biomarkers, Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Translational Research
  • Expertise in immunoassay design and development
  • Existing relationships that can lead to Assay Services business for the Company
  • Experience in successful experimental design, optimization, interpretation, and troubleshooting. Ability to develop solutions to complex problems that require innovative thinking and collaboration.
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field with 2+ years’ experience (post-doc or industrial); or Master’s degree with 5+ years’ experience and exceptional qualifications.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively understand and communicate about Company capabilities and client challenges
  • Up to 10% travel to conferences and for meetings with clients
