Assay Technician

Division: Assay Services

Reports To: Laboratory Manager

Pay Range: $50,000 - $70,000

 

Summary: The Assay Technician works primarily with immunoassays, including ELISA and other high sensitivity platforms such as Simoa, MSD, and SMC (SMCxPro) to support the Assay Service Group in providing clients with trusted data for their various research needs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Properly handle various biological samples, including sorting, aliquoting and inventory upkeep
  • Process samples using ELISAs
  • Process samples using high sensitivity assay platforms, with multiplexing and custom assay capability, including
    • Quanterix fully automated, bead-based single-molecule array (Simoa)
    • MSD plate-based electrochemilluminescence (ECL)
    • MilliporeSigma bead and plate-based single-molecule counting (SMC)
  • Generate consistently reproducible assay results as a key team member
  • Maintain detailed records, analyze data and write client reports
  • Perform additional duties and other projects as required or assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Requirements:

  • Life Sciences Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree with 2+ years laboratory experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience with ELISA in an industrial setting preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge in practical aspects of assays including troubleshooting and data interpretation, mainly as applied to biomarkers
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to maintain progress on simultaneous projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly attentive to detail and well-organized
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with cell culture is a plus
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude, and ability to work independently

Manufacturing Assistant

 

Division: Manufacturing

Reports To: Managing Director, Product Division

Pay Range: $21.73 - $23.88 per hour

 

Summary: As part of the team manufacturing ELISA kits and reagents, the Manufacturing Assistant is responsible for manufacturing products of varying complexity in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), production batch records, filling records and packaging records. The Manufacturing Assistant is also responsible for general laboratory tasks such as shipping & receiving and inventory maintenance; glassware washing; and material, solution, and waste sterilization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture products of varying complexity in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), production batch records, filling records, and packaging records
  • Dispense materials into bottles, vials, and microliter plates, both manually and with the use of automated equipment
  • Assemble and shrink wrap ELISA kits
  • Enter incoming supplies and completed components and products into inventory
  • Label, pack, check shipments for accuracy, and ship products
  • Maintain, order, re-stock and rotate inventory of raw materials and laboratory supplies
  • Participate in product inventory assessments
  • Wash laboratory glassware and other containers
  • Prepare and sterilize media, buffer, glassware, and other items
  • Sterilize and discard biohazard waste
  • Recommend equipment and procedures to streamline production processes
  • Assist in training new Manufacturing Assistants and Laboratory Assistants
  • Perform additional duties and/or other projects as required or assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

 

Requirements:

  • High School graduate with solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Must be self-motivated and deadline driven
  • Prior manufacturing experience is a plus but not required
  • Basic computer skills (knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet) needed
  • Experience in sterilization a plus

 

Physical Demands:

  • Standard Office/Lab work demands
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds. Very heavy lifting or carrying will require two people
