Tech Info & Data
Background
Mouse IFN-Alpha 13 was recently cloned from cells infected with Theiler's virus [van Pesch and Michiels (2003) J. Biol. Chem., 278(47):46321] and from genomic DNA [Hardy et al. (2004) Genomics 84(2):331]. Van Pesch and Michiels had suggested that Mouse IFN Alpha 13 is expressed constitutively in L929 cells. They have also shown that priming of the cells with IFN alpha/beta leads to a decrease in this transcript.
Summary: Mouse IFN-Alpha 13 is a new interferon which may be constitutively expressed and thus have different expression criteria than other Mu IFN-Alpha subtypes.
